Our Story

Established in 2022, by the same Lone Soldiers who formed Cohen Security in 2018, the Cohen Security Foundation is the bridge between years of living in Israel and resettling in the United States.

When the founding members of Cohen Security returned to the United States after their service, to their disappointment the majority of industries in the United States did not recognize any educational or work experience they had obtained while living in Israel. Despite years of job experience in the security field, professional military training, and educational credentials, they were simply advised to reapply when they had either work or educational experience in the U.S.

Disappointed at the lack of acknowledgment for their accomplishments, and devaluation of their skill sets, Cohen Security was established and capitalized on the very expertise that had previously been dismissed. Cohen Security has been creating a safer community in San Diego ever since.

As their prowess was recognized, and the business grew, the founding members of Cohen Security sought out additional opportunities to help. Remembering the initial struggle to become re-established in the U.S., they shifted their focus toward other Lone Soldiers who might be in the same position they were once in and established the Cohen Security Foundation.

Connecting with Lone Soldiers all over the world the Cohen Security Foundation provides resettlement, educational, and social support to former IDF Lone Soldiers as they resettle in the United States after living in Israel.

Operating out of San Diego, but connecting with Lone Soldiers all over the world the Cohen Security Foundation provides resettlement, educational, and social support to former IDF Lone Soldiers as they resettle in the United States after living in Israel.

While there are many organizations that support Lone Soldiers in Israel after their discharge from military service in Israel, Cohen Security Foundation is the only organization supporting IDF Lone Soldier Veterans who return to the U.S. after their service. 3 out of 4 Lone Soldiers from the U.S. will return within five years of completing their military service, and we believe they should continue to be supported as a way of showing our appreciation for their service in the IDF.

THE CAUSE

What is a Lone Soldier?

Originating from the strong familial culture of Israel, Lone Soldier is a term to define a soldier serving in the IDF (Israel Defense Forces) with no immediate family members in Israel. Lone Soldiers originate from all over the world and have different reasons for serving in the IDF, but all of them come together to fight for the protection of the State of Israel. Many non-profits and local organizations provide support to help Lone Soldiers in Israel, but only one organization helps these soldiers if they ever leave Israel, the Cohen Security Foundation.

COHEN SECURITY

Sister
Organization

The Cohen Security Foundation works closely with our sister organization, Cohen Security, to provide opportunities for employment in the security field for interested IDF Veterans. Founded by the same IDF Veterans who started the Cohen Security Foundation, Cohen Security has been providing active shooter training, firearm instruction, and general security consulting services in San Diego since 2018.
